Aunt Jen, Uncle Adam, and Owen came to spend the night at our house on Saturday. They took Carter and Owen out on Saturday night while Jonathan and I had the youth Valentine's Day Bash at church {was super fun, will post about later}. Carter loves being with Aunt Jen and Uncle Adam...but this was the only shot we got of all 3 cousins. Quite the picture!
Little Ella was dedicated in a beautiful gown that Memaw Carla made her. Raw silk material, embroidered with flowers at the top and back, bows on the sleeve, and a big flower headband {made by Mommy}. She was so precious!
I sang the song "I Give Myself Away" during the dedication, and this poem was read. We also had this poem read at Carter's dedication service.
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly.
Then in my hands they die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I have the wisdomTo unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for leadingEach moment of my day.
I will look to Him for His guidanceEach step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.
Both kids must have felt a tad bit nervous or mad...because BOTH of them were screaming during the dedication prayer. Brother Urshan was talking about sweet Ella and how God had plans for her, and all the sudden you hear a huge "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA"...yes, that is our sweet pea.
Carter must have been out of sync because he didn't want to go to Sunday School {which he normally loves} and he started crying when Jonathan picked him up for Ella's dedication prayer. It was wild.
What a dramatic dedication! There must have been lots of laughs. Kids being kids make life interesting. Surely God was smiling on the family as Ella Doll was being dedicated. Carter always adds a little spice to everything. You are blessed with a beautiful family. To God be all the glory.
