Favorite Charity on Kelly's Korner

This week Kellly's Korner Blog is hosting a "Show Us Your Life - Favorite Charities" and I had to link. My family's favorite charity is Operation Smile. Why? Because of our precious Owen Murry Pryor. Owen is my nephew given to us by my sister and brother-in-law. Owen was born on September 21, 2008 and was perfect. Jenny and Adam found out at the 20-week ultrasound that Owen possibly had cleft-lip and most likely cleft-palate. You can read their story here on Owen's Operation Smile Donation page.

Owen has undergone two surgeries so far, and will have his palate surgery this week {funny how this is Kelly's category this week}. Owen is a perfect angel and has filled our lives with so much happiness. We look at Owen and realize how great our GOD is...how we are fearfully and wonderfully made through him...in his image.

About Operation Smile

"At Operation Smile, we measure ourselves by the joy we see on children's faces. We're more than a charity. More than an NGO. We're a mobilized force of medical professionals and caring hearts who provide safe, effective reconstructive surgery for children born with facial deformities such as cleft lip and cleft palate.

More than 200,000 children are born with a severe cleft condition each year — often unable to eat, speak, socialize or smile. In some places these children are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford to give them the surgeries they need to live a normal life.
That's where we come in. Since 1982, Operation Smile — through the help of dedicated medical volunteers — has provided free surgeries to children in more than 50 countries, healing their smiles and bringing hope for a better future.

Thanks to the generosity and spirit of volunteerism shown by our supporters, we heal thousands of children per year and, today, more than 140,000 girls and boys have a new chance at a new life because of our work. With your help, how many lives can we change tomorrow?"
